Mananging stress atWork
Stress is a common response to high-pressure situations, without it we may not challenge ourselves, be motivated or learn adaptability. In this program we will investigate the impact of stress and how you might manage and mitigate its effects. Learn how to differentiate between healthy and unhealthy stress so you can better your understanding, better your response, maximise performance and operate at your full potential.
Modules & Outlines
Module 1: Managing Thoughts
Thoughts are there to construct and communicate our interpretation of an event or situation. We need healthy thinking to be able to operate at our best. But thoughts do love to play tricks on us, in ways that sometimes makes any positive action impossible.
Module 2: Managing Feelings
As humans we rely heavily on our feelings to construct and communicate what internal relationship we have to a particular event or situation. The feelings self likes to create emotional patterns that help us recognize what our response is in that moment, how we want to handle it and what we should avoid in order to feel relief.
Module 3: Managing Your Perspective
The observing self is the part of your mind that can take a step back. It is responsible for awareness, focus and attention. It gives you the opportunity to assess your reactions and responses by allowing you to recognize the urges you may have. Creating a space within which you choose if you want to engage.
Module 4: Managing Your Attachment
The practice of unhooking allows you to take a step back and place some space between you and the event. It can allow you to not get swept up in an event and facilitate the potential to work around to a challenge you are going through.
Module 5: Mindfulness
The practice of staying mindful allows you to make full contact with what is going on in the present moment. It allows you to not get swept up in your situation and to approach your experience with receptiveness and curiosity.
Module 6: Values
When we want to avoid an outcome we tend to use fight, flight, flow or freeze as a way to manage. The practice of using values allows you to remain connected with the behaviours you want to choose by in your day to day life. Values can allow you to not get swept up in the outcome and to engage in an experience with sense of discovery and growth.
Module 7: Growth Mindset
Growth mindset is about looking at experiences with a lens of possibility. It increases the probability of optimal outcomes. Creating a growth mindset begins by identifying that there is always something one can try and always something one can learn.
Module 8: Self-Care
Self care is an important part of your stress management. Without self care there is the capacity to lean into occupational burnout, overwhelm and other impacts on your wellbeing. As the day to day stress in your workplace increases, so to does the impact that has on you.
